וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ הָאֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ מַלְאָ֥ךְ ׀ לִֽירוּשָׁלִַם֮ לְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ֒ וּכְהַשְׁחִ֗ית רָאָ֤ה יְהוָה֙ וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם עַל־הָֽרָעָ֔ה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לַמַּלְאָ֤ךְ הַמַּשְׁחִית֙ רַ֔ב עַתָּ֖ה הֶ֣רֶף יָדֶ֑ךָ וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ עֹמֵ֔ד עִם־גֹּ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֥ן הַיְבוּסִֽי׃ (ס)
E Dio mandò un angelo a Gerusalemme per distruggerlo; e mentre stava per distruggere, l'Eterno vide e si pentì del male e disse all'angelo distruttore:'È abbastanza; ora tieni la mano.' E l'angelo dell'Eterno era in piedi accanto all'aia di Ornan il Gebuseo.

"As the Destroyer was about to destroy, ha-Shem saw" -- and commanded the Destroyer to relax their hand in order not to destroy David. For the Destroyer does not distinguish good from evil.
